Editing a search limit
If you need to change information for a search limit, you can edit the limit and make the changes. You can change how an optional search limit displays in Searching by editing the limit name, or you can change how a search limit behaves by changing the search expression configured for the search limit.
Each search limit must have a unique entry code value. If you modify an entry code for the selected search limit, and the modified entry code is the same as the entry code currently being used for an existing search limit, the software highlights the Entry Code field and displays an error message. The message indicates that the entry code value is already being used by another search limit, and that the entry code you enter must be unique to the selected search limit.

When you edit a search limit expression, you must re-index your data and refresh the Discovery administrator database metadata cache in the Discovery server application. For more information, see Refreshing the search cache. After you complete these tasks, the modified search limit will be available in Searching, and will display the correct results when it is applied to search results. |
If you try to edit or delete a search limit at the same time as another administrative user, the software displays an error message indicating that the record has been updated or deleted by another user, and preventing you from saving any changes that you may have made to the search limit. To continue making changes to this search limit, choose Cancel to reload the data and, if the search limit is still available, re-enter your changes.
